Topic: Valencia Enterprises Expands “ScenariosOnline”
Course Offerings
During the Spring Term of 2006, ScenariosOnline enjoyed the greatest number of
course starts in its history, with 37 partners and over 400 participants. The faculty and
administration achieved several benchmarks which led to this unprecedented success:
- Two new pilot courses were launched. “Doing the Write Thing” was designed for
developmental writing faculty and “Making It Add Up” targeted developmental math
faculty.
- New partnerships were forged with Richland College, North Harris Montgomery
Community College District, Guilford Technical Community College and the Hawaii
Community College System for the delivery of current, and the development of future,
course offerings.
- The partnership with Education Management Corporation was renewed assuring that
The Art Institutes, at their 29 campuses, will have access to “Teaching in an Art
Institute”, a mandated course for all new faculty members.
- The first courses were delivered in Canada at Michener Institute and Lethbridge
Community College.
ScenariosOnline designs and delivers scalable, web-based, professional development
programs for faculty, administrators and staff in the rapidly changing educational
landscape. Program curriculums address the challenges facing higher education in the
new millennium. Among these challenges are the shift from teaching to learning to
assessment of learning, the integration of new learning technologies, engaging adjunct
faculty in the learning college culture, dealing with faculty and administrative retirement
issues and the loss of state and federal revenue in the face of increasing student
populations.
